Is My
Spouse Cheating? What You Need to Look For
Worried about your spouse's fidelity? Use this helpful checklist to
answer the question, "Is my spouse cheating on me?" The choice is yours, but you should seriously consider leaving
them if your partner is exhibiting more than one of the behaviors listed below.
The habits of most cheaters can usually be broken down into the
following four categories: work excuses, secret communications, withholding affection, deceitful
behavior.
Is My Spouse Cheating On Me: Telltale Signs
Work Excuses -
Many adulterers seem to fall to the easy excuse of work for their extra-marital affairs. It starts with working
late a few days a week and then becomes a series of weekend seminars and sales trips. These seminars never seem to
be in the neighbourhood either and for some reason are always far away requiring long business trips.
Secret Communications - This is a large category of behaviors. There is the late-night phone call,
secret emails and new friends to be considered. Each will be given specific attention.
Unless your spouse is involved in the entertainment or club industries, a late-night call is never a good sign for
the relationship. In the case that they are, substitute late-night for early-morning. You will need to set
boundaries with your lover as to what is acceptable. But if no one's in jail and everyone is healthy there really
aren't that many legitimate reasons to be calling someone at two in the morning. Pay attention to their texting
patterns as well. If they are getting random texts, and always deleting them immediately they could be hiding
something from you.
Secret Emails -
The digital age has created many new avenues for infidelity. If your wife/husband has started to spend an
inordinate amount of time online and is defensive about their activities you should be worried. Usually you will
not even need to ask about their behavior to be alerted to shenanigans, if you walk by the computer and they
instantly minimize windows, or turn off the monitor - BINGO, you've caught them.
And email flows into new friends. You should be confident enough to let your man/woman have friends of the opposite
sex, but confidence is not in it when they begin hanging out with new friends that they won't introduce you to. If
the friend is always conveniently busy in group meetings, yet is always available to meet your spouse individually,
you have every right to be concerned and to question your spouse's motives.
Withholding Affection - Let me state first that withholding affection is a form of emotional abuse;
it shouldn't matter if this is a symptom of cheating or not, leave! When your partner starts to remove themselves
from the relationship it can often be because they have found a new target to shower their attention on. This
distancing can be physically being apart from you more than they are with you, but can also be seen if they aren't
talking as much or a marked decrease in sexual appetite. You should have a conversation with your partner the
moment they start to exhibit these symptoms to try and determine what is going on.
Deceitful Behavior - If your significant other has shown a willingness to lie to you, then you have
every reason to suspect them of cheating. A lie in one area of life often makes it easier to lie in others and once
a liar always a liar.
